Get ready to shuffle, deal, and explore the incredible marine life of New South Wales with our brand new Redmap Marine Match NSW playing cards! Following the success of our Tasmanian edition, this 2025 NSW deck brings the ocean to your hands in a playful, educational way 🐠🐡🐙

Whether you’re a curious kid, a marine science enthusiast, or just keen to learn about local oceans, these cards are perfect for sparking curiosity. Each deck features 14 beautifully illustrated marine species found along the NSW coast - from the iconic Blue Grouper and adorable Little Penguin, to Golden Kelp that forms critical habitats for these species.

Spotlight on Redmap Species
Some cards feature the special Redmap Species, highlighted with a red border and the Redmap logo. In this deck, that includes Branching Coral and Common Coral Trout. These species are worth double points in the game and are key players in tracking the effects of climate change as species shift further south along the NSW coast.

🃏 Two ways to play!

1. Marine Match – Memory Game
Lay all cards face down. Players take turns flipping two cards - match a species and keep the pair.
🎯 Redmap Species pairs score double!

2. Go Fish – Marine Edition
Ask another player for a specific species (e.g., “Do you have a Yellowfin Bream?”). If they have it, they hand it over. If not, “Go Fish!” and draw from the deck. Collect the most pairs to win.
🎯 Pairs of Redmap Species? Double points again!

What is Redmap?
Redmap stands for Range Extension Database and Mapping project, a national citizen science initiative inviting fishers, divers, and ocean enthusiasts to submit sightings of marine species appearing further south than usual as Australia’s oceans warm. Every photo helps scientists track species on the move and the impacts of climate change.

So while you’re matching marine creatures in the game, you’re also learning about real species shifting with our warming oceans. If you spot a Redmap Species in real life, submit a photo at www.redmap.org.au and contribute to vital marine science!

Fun, educational, and locally inspired
Developed by the MEMS Climate Change Citizen Science Project in collaboration with Redmap Australia, the NSW deck is a playful way to engage with local marine biodiversity and explore how climate change is reshaping our coastlines. Schools, libraries, community groups, and public event attendees have already been enjoying the decks - and now it’s your turn!

📣 Want a deck?
In NSW, a limited number are available through the NSW Marine Estate Education Strategy and at events promoting the work of the NSW Marine Estate Management Strategy and NSW DPIRD Fisheries and Forestry. For other states, follow us for updates on where to grab a deck!
