Ranzania Laevis (Slender Sunfish )

School of approx. 20 Slender Sunfish swam close to shore jumping and flapping tails on the water surface. Ultimately a large number of fish stranded themselves. Individual fish continued to strand themselves even after being returned to the ocean. At any one time there were approx. 3-4 stranded fish, with others swimming close to shore (1-3m). The school eventually left the beach area after around 1hr- although 3 fish remained in the shallows. Fish were approx 40cm long.
