What's been spotted lately around the country?

Tremoctopus spp. (Blanket octopus)

Found on Clifton Beach on Wednesday, 28th April. We are guessing a squid & egg mass. Can anyone help with scientific name please?

Scientists are unable to tell which species of Tremoctopus (blanket octopus) this is from the photo, but it likely represents a southernmost record anyway.
