* Redmap is now live!
Posted on Sunday, 6 December 2009
Hi Redmappers,
We're very pleased to announce that Redmap is now live and ready for you to Spot, Log and Map! Over the next few weeks you'll slowly see some of our archived data appear - these are the sightings that TAFI would hear about but have no where to put until the evolution of Redmap! Some are also sightings that we've been gathering over the past year from those of you that just couldn't wait until Redmap was up and running. Shortly we will also add some data on sightings from TAFI's Marine Biodiversity Research Group led by Neville Barrett. This group conducts SCUBA surveys around the coast of Tasmania and have spotted quite a few critters a bit further south than expected.
Our Redmap species list was put together from many different sources, including talking to lots of recreational and commercial fishers and SCUBA divers, as well as scientists, and trawling through old data and records. The Redmap species list will change over time and you'll probably see new species being added quite quickly - already we've got some verified sightings of a species not on the list (stay tuned for more details soon....).
Cheers,
The Redmap Team
