Win Big for the Unusual at Swanfish

Redmap WA, 19 Feb 2014.

Anglers entering this weekend's Swanfish competition have the opportunity to win a prize pack valued at over $250 for the most unusual catch logged with Redmap.

Swanfish is back in 2014 on the waters of Perth's Swan and Canning over the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd of February. What is expected to be plenty of fun for the whole family is also an excellent opportunity to help log any unusual marine species.

In the last 12 months, Redmap has received some logged reports from the Swan River including a 1.4kg mud crab and a diamond trevally both several hundred kilometres further south than usual. We also have on good authority grass emperor have also been caught recently - so be on the lookout!

To be part of the action, Swanfish are taking online registrations through their website or you can sign up on the day at MacCallum Park, Victoria Park during Saturday morning. To be in the running for the ''Most Unusual" catch category all you need to do is take a photo of your catch, log it on Redmap and include your Swanfish registration number in the additional comments section and you are in the running. Download the explanatory notes here.

Big thanks to the Melville Angling Club and Recfishwest for having Redmap involved this year and to Anglers Anonymous in Canning Vale for donating a $150 voucher as part of the prize pack. Also in the pack is a Kato tackle bag, a marine species identification book, headlamp and a Redmap drink bottle - over $250 in value.

If you are one of the over 1,000 participants expected at Swanfish download the Redmap app from Apple iTunes or Google Play and you are all set. Good luck.
